I first came to know of Implodes when my old pal and foundingmember Matt Jencik sent me a link to check out their originaldemo a few years ago. The lush forest of fuzz, reverb, and delaywas something I was immediately drawn to, and it's beenwonderful watching them evolve as a band through their twofull-length releases with Kranky Records, Black Earth in 2011 andRecurring Dream in 2013.In 2015 I am honored to work with Matt (live bassist for Slint andPapa M), Ken Camden (who has two solo albums on Kranky),Emily Elhaj (of Angel Olsen's band and of Chicago band MayorDaley), and Justin Rathell (of Chicago band El Mejor) to releasea new 12? EP containing two unreleased tracks from theRecurring Dream sessions with two newly recorded tracks.Although the works originate from different recording sessionsthese songs mesh beautifully, forming an overall warmth thattravels through the group's signature forest of dense fuzz. Aweaving river of somber rhythms and subtle melodies makes thesongs blissfully easy to latch on to while they remain deeplyrooted in the worlds of drone and ambient.Reverser will be presented as a 45 rpm 12? with a download codeincluded. The album was mastered by Chicago Mastering serviceand pressed by Gotta Groove Records in Cleveland, OH. It islimited to 375 copies on black, opaque purple/pink blend, andtransparent gold vinyl.''Implodes will do fine so long as they keep carving out bleaksoundscapes that are as atmospheric, otherworldly and starklybeautiful'' - Drowned in SoundTracklist: 1. OUT OF REACH 2. LAZY SKULL 3. DON'T LEAVE THE HOUSE 4. REVERSER (RUN TIME: 20:43)
