Conceived in limbo, the Compton White EP tells the story of a childhood lived between many homes. It's creator, Lloyd Whittle, is part of a generation of Romany Showmen - Sand Scratchers - who have settled on the coasts of Great Britain. The EP was written to capture the duality of the island and the mainland. There are moments of dusty, Dilla-esque hip-hop alongside edgy, aggressive electronics à la Evian Christ or Arca, but the producer's expert touch ensures the EP never feels too scattershot. - Pigeons & Planes, 2016.
