Vinyl LP pressing of this 2000 album. Beautiful grooves from the Soothsayers - music that starts in Afro Funk territory, but also hits some wonderfully jazzy notes too - taking the tunes way past the obvious, into richly righteous territory of their own! The horn work is really great - tenor and flute from Idris Rahman, and trumpet and flugelhorn from Robin Hopcraft - both strong players with a good dose of jazz in their background, supported here by larger grooves from the ensemble which includes plenty of percussion, guitar, and keyboards! Roger Beaujolais plays vibes and marimba on the set - both instruments that warm and deepen the sound nicely - and although there's a bit of vocals, the main focus is instrumental, with plenty of room for the horns to solo strongly.
