Schuur wears her influences on her sleeve and here is most effective when she does. Ray Charles' classic secular gospel sound provides the musical foundation for the LP; and three of his songs, including the lively, gospel-tinged title track and 'Ain't That Love' with the Edwin Hawkins Singers, provide some of the brightest moments. Her musicians, while a solid bunch of session players such as Tom Scott, Will Lee, Mitchel Forman and Steve Gadd, too often sound like the 'Saturday Night Live' Band leading into a commercial break. When all is said and done, though, 'Talkin' remains about the Schuur-est thing this popular young vocalist has yet delivered. Originally released 1988 Talkin' 'Bout You Arranged By [Vocals] - Edwin Hawkins Steven Miller Mixed By - Jim Boyer Mixed By [Assistant] - Josiah Gluck Organ [Hammond] - Richard Tee Saxophone [Baritone] - Ronnie Cuber Tambourine - Steve Gadd Vocals - Edwin Hawkins Singers 4:52, Funny (But I Still Love You) 3:52, Louisiana Sunday Afternoon Guitar [Electric] - Steve Khan Saxophone [Alto] - Tom Scott 4:49, For Your Love Arranged By - Richard Tee Arranged By [Strings] - Mitchel Forman Arranged By Arranged By [Strings] - Steven Miller Mixed By - Josiah Gluck Saxophone [Tenor] - Tom Scott 3:42, Hearts Take Time Acoustic Guitar Guitar [Electric] - Steve Khan 3:44, Somethin' Real Organ - Richard Tee Saxophone [Tenor] - Tom Scott 4:55, Hard Drivin' Mama II 4:05, Nothing in the World (Can Make Me Love You More Than I Do) Electric Piano - Mitchell Forman 3:38, Ain't That Love Arranged By [Vocals] - Edwin Hawkins Steven Miller Mixed By - Jim Boyer Mixed By [Assistant] - Josiah Gluck Tambourine - Steve Gadd Vocals - Edwin Hawkins Singers 3:19, Cry Me a River Arranged By - Richard Tee Steven Miller 4:45
