Vinyl LP pressing. Jamire Williams is avant-garde drummer who has worked with jazz legend Herbie Hancock, innovator Robert Glasper, and Tortoise's Jeff Parker. This is his first full length album, produced by Carlos Niño. The album features French composer Chassol, Los Angeles composer Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and GB (aka Frankie Reyes, Gabriel Reyes-Whittaker). For me personally and for where I am artistically, this is a supreme statement piece. It's more than a record for me. This is pure art in raw form. I've said this many times but as a drummer I see myself as a painter. I see colors, shapes, even strokes within sonic palettes. Effectual evokes all these sentiments to me as it is stripped down yet still vibrant. It's meant to push all that it encompasses; composition, conceptual art, and of course the drums. Who Will Stand_, The Fire Next Time, Selectric, Truth Remains Constant, Dos Au Soleil, Chase the Ghost, Wash Me Over (Pollock's Pulse), In Retrospect, Futurism, [ Selah ], Children of the Supernatural, Illuminations, The Art of Losing Yourself, Collaborate with God (Featuring Chassol on Keyboards)
